Bernt Jansen

Bernt Jansen (born July 27, 1949 in Meppen ) is a former German table tennis player .

Career

Between 1967 and 1976 Jansen played 38 international matches. He celebrated his greatest successes in the 1960s. However, at that time he was in the shadow of Eberhard Schöler . In 1968 he was second behind Schöler in the German championship. In 1969 he was in the final against Schöler in Hagen. In front of 2,400 spectators, Jansen was already leading in the decisive 5th set at 20:15, but missed all 5 match points and lost in overtime with 24:22. In doubles he was three times German champion. 1968 and 1969 with his Osnabrück club mate Hans Micheiloff , 1977 with Wilfried Lieck .

A few months later, Jansen reached the final with the German national team at the World Cup in Munich. Jansen won against reigning world champion Nobuhiko Hasegawa , but the game against Japan was lost 3: 5. For this success, the players - Eberhard Schöler , Wilfried Lieck and Bernt Jansen - received the Silver Laurel Leaf .

In 1991 Jansen ended his career as a competitive athlete.

Private

Jansen completed an apprenticeship as a publishing clerk . Since 1990 he has been working as a key account representative for Konica . He has a brother named Klaus . He has two sons with his wife Jutta.
