Career
Initially, Hielscher dedicated himself to tennis, where he won a district champion title at the age of five. At the age of seven he discovered table tennis at the TTC Bredenbeck . After initial success, he moved to TTC Helga Hannover in 1990 . He first came to TTC Jülich in 1999 via the stations VfL Hameln (from 1992) and Eintracht Leer (from 1996) , which he left in 2001 for Borussia Düsseldorf . After winning the German team championship with Düsseldorf, Hielscher moved back to Jülich in 2003. From 2007 to 2011 he played for Werder Bremen in the DTTL .
Hielscher took part in several European and world championships as well as (in doubles) in the 2004 Olympic Games . When he was officially retired from the national team in March 2016, he had completed 22 international matches.
At the beginning of 2000, Hielscher was awarded the Swaythling Club International's fair play prize, because at the German Championship 2000 in Magdeburg in the game against Fabian Moritz at 19:20 he reported an edge ball from the opponent that the referee had overlooked.
In 2010, Hielscher won the title at the German championships in doubles for the first time together with Bastian Steger. After a 2010/11 season marked by injuries, he left his long-term club Werder Bremen for TTC Ruhrstadt Herne . When he withdrew his team from the Bundesliga during the 2012/13 season, Hielscher moved to Post SV Mühlhausen .
In 2013 he started training as a trainer and helps out as a DTTB assistant trainer if necessary. After the 2016/17 season he ended his professional career, switched to the third division club SV Union Velbert and started working as a coach at the DTTZ .
