Li Yuxiang

Li Yuxiang (born June 9, 1955 ) is a former Chinese table tennis player .

Career

In 1976 Li was champion of China PR in singles, in 1977 in doubles and in 1978 with the provincial team. In 1977 he took part in the World Cup. He played in Beijing and at the Japanese club Wakayama Bank Osaka before moving to the German table tennis league at ATSV Saarbrücken in 1987 . He stayed with the Saarlanders until 1988; in the 1988/89 season he played in the top pair cross at the newly promoted FTG Frankfurt . He later came to Post SV via the stations TTC Herbornseelbach (1992/93), DJK Rheintreu Bockum (1994/95), Eintracht Leer (1995–1997), SC Westfalia Kinderhaus (from 1997) and TTG Weitmar-Munscheid (from 2001) Hagen. In 2000 he became West German champion in men's doubles with Lars Hielscher .

Several times he was senior world champion: In the individual in 1996 and 1998 (each over 40) under the German flag and in 2006 (over 50) as an American. In 1996 he won the double competition (over 40), in 2002 he took silver in the singles.

Li Yuxiang is a left-handed penholder player. He is married and has a son (* 1985). Today (2006) he runs a table tennis school in New York.
