The SC Westfalia Kinderhaus (officially: Sportclub Westfalia Kinderhaus 1920 eV ) is a sports club from the Kinderhaus district of Münster . The men's table tennis team played in the 2nd Bundesliga North for three years .

history

The association was founded in the spring of 1920. In addition to table tennis, the SC Westfalia provides children's house still badminton , basketball , billiards , boules , European sword fighting , football , gymnastics / health sports , handball , judo , kids in motion, track and field , swimming , sports badges , perquisites, tennis , volleyball and water aerobics on.

Table tennis

The table tennis department was founded in 1976. The men's team reached the 2nd Bundesliga North in 1993. Previously, the Westphalians had risen ten times within eleven years, before that nine times in a row. Only in the regional league was the rise only in the second year. After the team managed to stay in the league in the 1992/93 season only because of the more games they won against TTC Düppel Berlin with the same number of points , the children's homes had to relegate bottom of the table in the following 1993/94 season with 1:39 points. 1997 succeeded the rise, but the descent as the penultimate of the 1997/98 season followed. For financial reasons, the game was continued in the 3rd district class.

Handball

From 2014 to 2016, the former national player Franziska Heinz coached the women's team playing in the association league. The women currently play in the association league, the men in the regional league.

For decades, the footballers of the SC Westfalia Kinderhaus only played at the local level. From 1971 to 1974 and from 1985 to 1989 the Westfalia played in the district league. In 2011 he was again promoted to the district league. After a runner-up in 2016 behind TuS Altenberge , he was promoted to the state league for the first time a year later . There the Westfalia 2019 was runner-up behind Grün-Weiß Nottuln . The team lost the playoff for promotion to the Westfalenliga against FSV Gerlingen with 1: 2. One year later, Westfalia rose to become a master.

The over -32 team of the SC Westfalia Kinderhaus became Westphalia champions in 2013. The home games are played in the Große Wiese sports center, which has space for 2,000 spectators.
