Horst Ilberg

Horst Ilberg (born October 23, 1930 in Wetter (Ruhr) ) is a former German table tennis player and senior world champion in doubles.

youth

Ilberg began his career in 1946 with the club VfL Eintracht Hagen, with whose men's team, after several promotions and an interlude at SSV Hagen , he reached the league in 1951 , the highest German division at the time. In 1948 he was second in doubles with Gerhard Egeler at the German Youth Championships.

Adults

At the national German championships , Ilberg was third in doubles with Hans-Werner Schippers in 1951 and third in singles in 1953 . In 1953/54 he won - now a member of VfL 63 Hagen - at the "Grand Prix of West Germany". In 1953 he was ranked 10th in the overall German ranking.

Ilberg took part in four international matches. In December 1951 he won both singles in an international match against Denmark. In 1953 he was nominated for the World Cup , where he played against Brazil, Bulgaria and the Netherlands in the German team and reached seventh place with them. In singles, doubles with Bernie Vossebein and mixed with Hannelore Imlau (sleep) he retired early.

Seniors

Ilberg was successful in numerous senior tournaments. He played at various clubs, such as TTC Westfalia Münster (1962 - 1964, Association League), DJK SV Borussia 07 Münster (from 1964, district class), SC Westfalia Kinderhaus (around 1986 - 1998), DJK Westfalia Senden (since 1998). In 1997 he was awarded the Golden Badge of Honor of the West German Table Tennis Association WTTV.

In 2005 he ended his active career.
