Hans-Werner Schippers

Hans-Werner Schippers (born September 13, 1929 - † April 20, 2012 ) was a German table tennis player from the 1950s. He is German mixed master.

Schippers played at SpVg Odenkirchen , whose table tennis department joined the Rheydter Spielverein in 1950 . In the German ranking of 1950/51 he was ranked 11th.

Once Schippers was nominated for the national team. He was involved in the 2-1 win over Portugal in Hanover in 1951.

In 1958 he became German mixed champions together with Hilde Gröber . In previous years he had reached the semi-finals four times: in doubles in 1951 (with Horst Ilberg ), 1955 (with Karl-Heinz Harmansa ), 1956 (with Werner Hoeveler) and in mixed 1957 with Hilde Gröber.

Later (after 1957) Schippers played for DJK TuSA 06 Düsseldorf , before moving to FC Mönchengladbach in the association league in 1962.

Hans-Werner Schippers died in 2012. He was buried in the Protestant cemetery in Rheydt.
