German table tennis championship 1953

The 21st national German table tennis championship took place on January 31st and February 1st, 1953 in Herford .

All disciplines showed new titleholders, no title from the previous year could be defended. Conny Freundorfer won the men's singles . That was the beginning of a series, because from now on he was to become German champion nine times in a row. Kurt Seifert came second, last year's winner Heinz Schneider came third. In the women's singles, Berti Capellmann won ahead of the defending champion Ilse Donath . The champions of the double competitions were Karl-Heinz Harmansa / Bernhard Vossebein for the men and Hannelore Hanft / Grete Herber for the women. In the mixed, Helmuth Hoffmann / Berti Capellmann won gold.
