Hertha Maier

Hertha Maier (born as Hertha Raffalt ) (born April 13, 1922 in Ingolstadt ; † October 2, 1967 in Ingolstadt) was a German table tennis player . She was one of the best players in Germany in the 1950s.

Career

Hertha Raffalt began her career in Ingolstadt. She married around 1950 and from then on played under the name Hertha Maier for the club MTV Munich 1879 . With this she became the German women's team champion in 1950/51. At the Bavarian Championships , she won six times in singles and five times in doubles between 1949 and 1960. In 1949 she became German runner-up in doubles with Gisela Eberth , and two years later she came third in singles. In Germany Cup they won in 1949-50 with the team of Bayern.

Hertha Maier was the first national player from Bavaria. She was nominated for the 1951 World Cup in Vienna, where she finished ninth with the German team. At the 1959 World Cup in Dortmund, she only took part in the individual competitions.

In 1950/51 she was ranked third in the national DTTB rankings.
