TTC Herbornseelbach
The TTC 1958 Herbornseelbach is a table tennis club from the central Hessian city of Herborn . He has played in one of the top three leagues since 1968.
history
The association was founded on January 15, 1958 in the then independent municipality of Herbornseelbach . This community came to the city of Herborn during the territorial reform in 1977 and has been called Herborn-Seelbach since then, but the association kept its name (without hyphen).
After several promotions - 1963 district class, 1966 group league, 1967 state league - the men's team reached the second league in 1968. At that time this was the third highest division in Germany. Since then, the club has been continuously represented in one of the three top divisions.
In 1977 the team rose to the 1st Bundesliga for the first time . Although she strengthened herself with the new addition Dietmar Kelkel, she could not prevent relegation to the league in the line-up of Michael Graef, Dietmar Kelkel, Dieter Weitz , Werner Englisch, Wilfried Weigel, Willi Krämer and Joachim Graef .
The second promotion to the 1st BL came three years later, when Michael Graef, Wilfried Weigel, Enes Gasic, Hans-Jürgen Hackenberg , Willi Krämer and Werner Englisch became champions of the Regionalliga Südwest. But also in the season 1981/82 - here under the name TTC 1958 Wibau Herbornseelbach - Milivoj Karakašević (Yugoslavia), Gräf, Krämer, Englisch, Hackenberg and Uli Schäfer missed the league.
After a year in the 2nd Bundesliga, he was immediately promoted again. Milivoj Karakašević, Dietmar Kelkel, Michael Gräf, Heinz Sommer, Hans-Jürgen Hackenberg and Thomas Weikert ended up in ninth place in 1983/84 and had to relegate again.
In the 2007/08 season the team was first in the Regionalliga Südwest, but could not prevail in the promotion games against TTC Drawbridge Grenzau II.
Known players: Li Yuxiang (1992/93), Josef Plachý (1993–1996) and Nico Stehle (from 2005).
