Josef Plachý

Josef Plachý (born April 1, 1971 in Kladno ) is a former Czech table tennis player . He took part in world championships six times .

Career

Plachý played for Dukla Trenčín and became vice champion of the ČSFR with this club in 1992. In 1992 he was signed by Borussia Düsseldorf for the Bundesliga . With Düsseldorf he immediately won the German championship in the 1992/93 season. Later he played a. a. at TTC Herbornseelbach (1993, Regionalliga), ESV Jahn Kassel (1996–1998), SKK El Niňo Prague (2002–2004) and at the French club AS Pontoise-Cergy TT (2005).

Plachý was Czech individual champion in 1999, 2003 and 2007. In doubles he won the title in 1994, 1995 and 2005 (each with Richard Výborný ) and 1998 (with David Štěpánek). In addition, he and his sister Hana Plachá were Czech mixed champions in 1995.

From 1993 to 2003 he was nominated six times for world championships by the Czech association . In 1996 and 2000 he qualified for participation in the Olympic Games.

In the ITTF world rankings he was ranked 73rd in December 2006 and January 2007.

Private

Plachý's father, who is also called "Josef", was a table tennis player. His sister Hana (* 1973) also moved to Germany in 1992, from Orbis Prague to TTC Lülsdorf-Rheidt.
