In 1967 the tennis facility in Aschrottplatz was the first venue in Kassel where attempts were made to introduce ice hockey in winter with water hoses . Ten years later, in 1977 , the first ice hockey club for the city of Kassel played in the newly founded ice rink Kassel with the then ESG Kassel - today's Kassel Huskies . Since 2000, the tennis facility has been leased by the city of Kassel for 99 years according to the heritable building right.

Table tennis

On July 7, 1950, a table tennis department was founded on the initiative of Bruno Kempf . The best-known player was Hanskarl Emmerich (in 2011 German senior champion 80+). In 1954/55 the men's team played for the first time in the Oberliga, which was the highest German division at the time. After relegation, he was promoted back to the OL in 1959. Since the 2nd Bundesliga was founded in 1981 to 2005, it was represented in the 2nd Bundesliga - at times even with two teams. In 2005 he was relegated to the regional league. In 2007 the department dissolved and merged with the SVH Kassel .

Rifle Division

The rifle department was founded in 1913 as a small caliber department. Since at that time there was still no own shooting range, they joined the rifle club in 1547. In 1933, however, their own shooting range was built. After an interruption due to the Second World War, some railroaders who were enthusiastic about shooting did not get together again until November 27, 1955 and founded the ESV-Malsfeld, only to join the ESV Kassel as a shooting department 10 months later.

Until January 1960, the shooting department of the ESV Jahn Kassel consisted only of male members, which was then joined in February by a women's team, which was able to come up with remarkable performances in the following years. In 1963 the time had come for the department in Angersbachstrasse to build its own shooting range. Since the expansion of the shooting range in 1979/80, the following shooting ranges are available today:

  • 10 stands for air guns
  • 6 stands for handguns without caliber limitation
  • 2 stands for small bore rifles 100 meters
  • 6 stands for small-caliber weapons 50 meters
