Hans-Jürgen Hackenberg

Hans-Jürgen Hackenberg (born September 11, 1950 in Gießen ) is a former German table tennis player . He took part in the 1969 World Cup.

Career

Hackenberg played as a youth for Giessener SV . Here he achieved his first successes. He won the Hessen Cup in 1966 and the Hessian Championship in 1967 with the youth team. In 1967 he was third at the German youth championship. He played twelve times in the German youth team. In 1968 and 1969 he took part in the European Youth Championship, where he reached third place with the team in the latter. Several times he was German university champion.

In 1967 he left his hometown club Gießener SV and from then on played with several clubs in higher classes and also in the Bundesliga , such as TGS Rödelheim (until 1970), Eintracht Frankfurt (from 1970), FTG Frankfurt (1975) and SSV Reutlingen 05 (around 1977 ), TTC Grenzau and TTC Herbornseelbach (1980/81). In 1985 he rose to the 2nd Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt. From 1985 he was active again at Gießener SV.

1969/70 he was Hessen champion in doubles with Pfeufer, in 1979 he won the Rhineland Championship.

In 1969 Hackenberg was nominated for the individual competitions of the world championship . In the individual he failed in the qualifying round to the Irish James Langan. The doubles with Jürgen Lieder entered the main round with a win over Osvaldo Flores / Luis Aravena (Chile), where it was eliminated against Sarkis Sarkhoian / Gegam Vardonjan (SU).

In 2015, Hackenberg took over the position of Vice President Finance at the German Table Tennis Association DTTB as successor to Michael Geiger .

Private

Hackenberg studied law and business administration. From 2007 until his retirement, he was commercial director at the University Hospital Bonn . He is married and has two sons.
