TTC drawbridge Grenzau
The TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau is a German table tennis club from the town of Höhr-Grenzhausen , which is represented with a men's team in the table tennis Bundesliga .
history
In 1952, the then 16-year-old Manfred Gstettner founded the TTC Grenzau association. In 1982 he was promoted to the 1st men's division ( Park Lee Hee , Heiner Lammers , Robert Horsch , Markus Fischer, Manfred Baum , Paul Schmücker). Since then, the TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau has achieved 13 titles at national and international level. Well-known players were in addition to the aforementioned Jürgen Rebel and Ulf Bengtsson .
Already in the first Bundesliga season 1982/83 Grenzau took second place in the ETTU Cup , after a few years the club was able to establish itself at the top of the Bundesliga. After a third place in the second season and a fifth in the first season with playoffs 1984/85 Grenzau reached at least the playoff semifinals for almost twenty years in a row. In 1986/87 the club won the triple with its first championship title, the German Cup and the European Cup, and the European Cup was won for the second time the following year.
After "only" three second places in the 1989/90 season - German championship, German cup, European cup - Karl Kamps gave up the post of head coach in 1990. His successor was the Romanian Emmerich Terebesi, and Kamps became the manager. The second championship title followed in 1990/91 . In 1992 Terebesi was replaced as coach by the Serb Milan Stencel . 1992/93 succeeded another cup victory, 1993/94 the next championship title. In 1994 Kamps left the club and became a manager at CFC Hertha 06 Berlin . He returned in December 1995 and was finally replaced by Andreas Holz in 1997. Later the player Andrzej Grubba took over the training. After his departure in 2002, he was replaced by Emmerich Terebesi. Other trainers were Chen Zhibin , Michele Comparato (until 2010) and Anton Stefko (since 2010).
In the 2004/05 Bundesliga , Grenzau failed to make it into the top four teams for the first time since 1985 and was only irregularly represented in the playoffs in the years that followed. 2006/07 managed once again to reach the first place in the table and the final, but this was lost to the TTC Frickenhausen . The other playoff appearances since this year have already ended in the semi-finals, including 2014/15 , when Grenzau took second place in the final table after a strong season, but was eliminated by Fulda . The following year, the club was hampered by several injuries and only reached seventh place. The two leading players Andrej Gaćina and Masaki Yoshida left the club after this season and were replaced by Kou Lei and Kohei Sambe , who had been playing in the second division until then , while Dirk Wagner became the new trainer. With two wins from 16 games Grenzau was last, but did not have to relegate due to the planned increase in the league to twelve teams. For the season 2017/18 Kohei Sambe and Liang Qiu left the club with which they came Kirill Gerasimenko and Constantin Cioti . After the first half of the season, top player Kou Lei was dismissed because he had reported sick for the 10th matchday, but had played in a tournament in Oman at the same time, and was replaced by Jörg Schlichter, who played for the second team in the major league . After that Grenzau failed to win, and the club came in last with two wins. H. Tenth, because after the last season there was only one newcomer, so Grenzau did not relegate in 2018. After this season only Gerassimenko remained, who was supplemented by Mihai Bobocica , Anders Lind and Marcelo Aguirre . In this line-up Grenzau played more successfully again, seven wins from twenty games were enough - tied with the table eighth - for the ninth of eleven places.
For Gerassimenko and Aguirre came Ioannis Sgouropoulos and Kanak Jha . In addition, the head coach Dirk Wagner was replaced by Chris Pfeiffer from Mainz. With the eleventh of twelve places, due to a lack of promotion candidates, relegation could also be secured in 2020, after which almost the entire squad was replaced again; it remained only Sgouropoulos, who was supplemented by Cristian Pletea , Robin Devos and Aleksandar Karakašević , the new coach was Colin Heow.

- 1996/97: Grenzau won the final against Borussia Düsseldorf 4: 3 in December 1996 , but the victory was subsequently revoked by the league secretary. At the time, it was controversial how the Bosman ruling could be implemented in the current season. Grenzau used Andrzej Grubba (Poland) and Wang Tao (China) in the final, two players from countries that did not belong to the EU; however, Poland was one of the EU-associated countries. This was assessed as illegal by the league committee. The DTTB Federal Court and the Frankfurt Regional Court confirmed this view.
