Ulf Bengtsson

Ulf Bengtsson (born January 26, 1960 in Höganäs ; † March 17, 2019 ) was a Swedish table tennis player . He had his best time in the 1980s when he became European champion in individual and with the team.

Ulf Bengtsson was not related to the world champion Stellan Bengtsson .

youth

Left-handed Bengtsson joined a club when he was six. In 1977 and 1978 he won the Swedish Youth Championship. In Vichy in 1977 he became European Youth Champion in doubles together with Lars Franklin.

Seniors

Bengtsson took part in the three world championships in 1983 , 1985 and 1989 . In 1983 and 1985 he was runner-up with the Swedish team.

He was represented three times at European championships . In 1984 he was European champion in singles before Andrzej Grubba , in 1988 he won the title with the team. In 1982 (with Erik Lindh ) and 1984 (with Ulf Carlsson ) he reached the semi-finals in doubles.

German Bundesliga

In 1983 he moved from Söderhamn's UIF to the German Bundesliga club TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau . After the 1983/84 season, which he finished positively with 19:15 games, he returned to Söderhamns UIF.

Trainer

In the 1990s Ulf Bengtsson was national coach in Sweden.
