Ulf Carlsson
Ulf "Tickan" Carlsson (born April 2, 1961 in Falkenberg ) is a Swedish table tennis player . In the 1980s he was among the world's best. He is world champion in doubles.
World championships
From 1979 to 1989 Carlsson took part in all six world championships . Here he was in Gothenburg in 1985 together with Mikael Appelgren world champion in doubles by winning the final against Orlowski / Pansky , and vice world champion with the Swedish team. At the 1987 World Cup he came in second with the team.
European championships
Between 1980 and 1988 Carlsson was nominated for all five European championships . In 1980 he won the final with the Swedish team against Germany and was thus team European champion. He repeated this success at the EM 1986, where he reached 2nd place in doubles with Mikael Appelgren .
Other international successes
His best placings at the European ranking tournament Europe TOP-12 were 4th place (1986) and 6th place (1987). In 1986 he was first with Sweden in the Europa League .
Germany
Carlsson first played for the Swedish club Falkenbergs BTK . In 1980 he moved to the German Bundesliga club TTC Simex Jülich , with whom he won the European Champion Clubs' Cup in 1984 . In 1985 he returned to Sweden to the BTK Falkenberg, later he played for the clubs BTK Lyckeby and BTK Halmstad.
Trainer
From 1992 Ulf Carlsson coached the Swedish women's national team. In 1996 he succeeded Sören Ahlen and became the head coach of the Swedish men's national team.
Private
Ulf Carlsson married (after 1999) the Swedish table tennis player Åsa Svensson .
