Milan Orlowski

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Milan Orlowski (born September 7, 1952 in Prague ) was one of the best table tennis players in the world in the 1970s and 1980s .

youth

Orlowski was registered at the Sparta Prague club at the age of 10 by his father Marcel Orlowski, who was himself a good table tennis player (winner of the European Senior Championships 1995 over 80 in Vienna). Here the former European champion in doubles Ludvík Vyhnanovský recognized Milans talent; he became his trainer. As a teenager he was integrated into the senior team of Sparta Prague. In 1969 he won the European Youth Championship in Obertraun.

High point of the career

Milan Orlowski was European champion in the men's singles in Novi Sad in 1974. He won the Europe TOP-12 tournament twice (1977 and 1983) . He won several international titles and achieved a variety of placements in doubles and with the team. Between 1972 and 1982 he won the individual championships in Czechoslovakia seven times. Orlowski was an attacking player close to the table. His fast counter-attack, which - with short pimples on the outside - hardly gave the opponent time to react, was particularly feared .

Germany

Orlowski played in several German clubs. In 1983 he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with TTBG Steiner-Optik Bayreuth . In 1987 he moved to TTC Jülich , and in 1989 he returned to Steiner Bayreuth. After intermediate positions at TV Unterboihingen (1998) and TTC Creußen (from 1999) he plays today (2009) in Thuringia at Post SV Mühlhausen in 1951 in the 2nd Bundesliga. In 2007 he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with Post SV Mühlhausen.

Together with Jindřich Panský , Orlowski appeared in table tennis shows from the mid-1990s.
