Mihai Bobocica (born September 8, 1986 in Craiova , Romania ) is an Italian table tennis player who has performed internationally since 2002. He took part in several European championships , nine world championships and two Olympic Games .

Career

Mihai Bobocica was five times Italian champion in singles and seven times Italian team champion.

He made his first international appearances in 2002 at ITTF Pro Tour tournaments. From 2003 to 2015 he took part in nine world championships , but never came close to medal ranks.

In 2008 Mihai Bobocica qualified for the first time to participate in the individual competition of the Olympic Games . After victories over Afshin Noroozi (Iran) in the preliminary round and Fyodor Kusmin (Russia) in the main round, he was eliminated against Bojan Tokič (Slovenia). He also survived the first round of the 2012 Olympics by beating Andy Pereira (Cuba). Then he lost to the Austrian Werner Schlager .

Mihai Bobocica played for the Sterilgarda Castel Goffredo clubs, until 2005 at Post SV Hagen , which he then left for Milan and in the 2007/08 season in the German Bundesliga with TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen . From the 2015/16 season he was active in the Austrian Bundesliga for the SPG Wels club before moving to the TTBL at the TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau in 2018 . After the 2020 season he left the club and wants to play in Italy in the coming season.

In January 2015 he was ranked 55th in the ITTF world rankings .
