Aleksandar Karakašević ( Serbian - Cyrillic Александар Каракашевић ; born December 9, 1975 in Zemun , Serbia ) is a Serbian table tennis player . His nickname in the TTBL is King Kara . He took part in a total of ten European championships and three times in the Olympic Games .

Career

Karakašević is considered the best Serbian table tennis player and has successfully participated in numerous tournaments. Since 1995 he has been represented at twelve world championships . He is the son of the Yugoslav master player Milivoj Karakašević . In 2000 he moved from STK Unirea Uzdin to Germany to TTF Ochsenhausen . Here he played one season and then joined the SV Plüderhausen .

In 2007 he won the US Open in table tennis for the third time. He participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing . He achieved great successes above all in doubles and mixed games alongside the Lithuanian Rūta Paškauskienė , with whom he won the European championship in 2000 , 2005 , 2007 and 2009 . With SV Plüderhausen, he won the DTTB Cup for the first time in the 2008/09 season (3-1 in the final against SV Werder Bremen) alongside his team-mates Jakub Kosowski and Leung Chu Yan in the TUI DTTB Final Four in Hanover . He was also involved in winning the ETTU Cup in the 2008/09 season against Russian opponents Victoria Moscow (first leg 1: 3, second leg 3: 0); The SVP was the only team in the history of the ETTU Cup to win the title three times (2002, 2005, 2009). He won bronze at the 2013 European Championship. In early 2013, Karakašević's career was interrupted by a tear in his Achilles tendon, which is why he was released from the club at the end of the season. After the 2016 European Championships , he resigned from the national team.

In 2014 Karakašević joined the Spanish first division club UCAM Cartagena, from where he moved to the Czech Republic. In the 2017/18 season, the Serb is part of the squad of the Czech first division club TTC Ostrava. He was mainly used in the Champions League, where he was able to draw attention to himself with a 4-2 record. He beat the clearly favored Jakub Dyjas , among others , but could not prevent his team from leaving. In 2018 he was signed by the Baden-Württemberg regional league team TSV Kuppingen from the Herrenberg district of Kuppingen . After a stopover (2019/20 season) at TTC Champions Düsseldorf in the 3rd Bundesliga, he returned to the Bundesliga (TTBL) at TTC Grenzau in 2020 .
