history

Kuppingen 1681, forest inventory book by Andreas Kieser

21 burial mounds from the Hallstatt period (700–500 BC) were discovered in the Kuppinger district .

The place was first mentioned in a document signed by King Otto I from the year 961 ( handed down as Chuppinga ). However, it is certain that the place has existed since 700 AD. In addition to the place name ending in -ingen, which indicates an Alemannic foundation , the signs of a cemetery from the time the place was founded also testify to this assumption.

In the 1950s was in Kuppingen at 48 ° 36 '58 "  N , 8 ° 50' 47"  O a NDB (call sign: DHP, transmission frequency: 401 kHz)

On December 1, 1971, Kuppingen was incorporated into Herrenberg.
