Karl Kühnle

Karl Kühnle (born July 8, 1900 in Kuppingen ; † October 15, 1981 there ) was a German artist. The painter of the Gäus achieved regional fame, but he also had exhibitions in Freiburg , Biarritz , Paris , Mexico City , Rochester , Las Palmas . Kühnle also illustrated postcards, calendars and books.

He was awarded the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg and the Herrenberger Citizen Medal in gold. In his birthplace, Kuppingen, a square (Karl-Kühnle-Platz), a hall of the Protestant community center and the local elementary school (Karl-Kühnle-Grundschule) are named after him.

His biography Sieg des Lichts appeared in 1977 and was published for the third time in 1990.

Some of his works can be viewed in the Karl Kühnle elementary school in Kupping, others in the Herrenberg town hall.
