Chen Zhibin (born October 21, 1962 in Shontung (near Beijing)) is a German table tennis player and trainer from China . He became the Chinese master in 1989.
Career
Chen Zhibin played under the flag of China until 2000. Since 1982 he was part of the Chinese national team. In 1989 he became national Chinese champion, in 1990 he won the Asian Games in doubles with Ma Wenge . In 1989 and 1991 he took part in the World Cup. He reached the semifinals in a mixed with Chen Jing in 1989 . At the international championships he was first in Sweden in 1987 and first in China, Hong Kong and Finland in 1989.
In the 1990s, Chen Zhibin was signed by several German Bundesliga clubs:
- 1990–1991: ATSV Saarbrücken
- 1991–1992: TTC Grünweiß Bad Hamm
- 1992–1996: Post SV Telekom Mülheim
- 1996–1997: TTF Bad Honnef
- 1997–1998: Post SV Telekom Mülheim
- 1998–2006: TTC drawbridge Grenzau
- 2009–2010: TTC Grünweiß Bad Hamm (2nd BL)
With Grenzau he won the European Cup in 2000 and the German championship in 2001 and 2002 .
In 2000, Chen Zhibin took German citizenship.
In the 2006/07 season he played for the Austrian club ASKÖ Glas Wiesbauer Mauthausen . In the 2010/11 season he was still active for the Luxembourg club DT Ettelbruck, then he retired to the major league for VfR Simmern, where he played with his son Chen Delong until 2014. Then he joined the upper division RSV Klein-Winternheim.
Trainer
He started working as a coach around 2004, initially as a player-coach. The place of work was the table tennis federal base in Grenzau. Around 2011 he worked as national coach in the Netherlands for the women's team until 2014. From 2016 to 2018 he was the national coach of the women's team in Singapore.
