Post SV Telekom Mülheim

The Post SV Telekom Mülheim - formerly Post SV Mülheim - is a sports club from Mülheim an der Ruhr . The table tennis -Herrenmannschaft played in the 1980s and 1990s in the table tennis league . In 2005 the table tennis department was integrated into the association TTC Union 69 Mülheim .

Career

The club acted as Post SV Mülheim until 1989 . In 1984/85 the men's team reached the 2nd Bundesliga . Here she was instant champion, but missed the promotion. A year later she was able to take part in the promotion games as third in the table because other clubs waived. Here Mülheim failed to TTC Heusenstamm , Hertha BSC and TTC Esslingen . In 1986/87 she was first again. This time the promotion succeeded together with Germania Schnelsen , but they did not manage to stay up in 1987/88.

In 1988/89 he returned to the 1st Bundesliga. The association called itself after its main sponsor into Post SV Mülheim Telekom . This time the team stayed here for two years, followed by a one-year guest appearance in the 2nd Bundesliga in 1991/92 with a subsequent championship and promotion. The 1992/93 season was the most successful in the club's history. The team qualified for the play-off round and reached the final against Borussia Düsseldorf here . After a 5-5 draw and a 3-6 defeat, Mülheim became German runner-up . In 1990, 1991 and 1994 the team reached the semifinals of the German Cup championships .

Until 1998 Mülheim played in the 1st Bundesliga. When the sponsor Telekom left in 1996 , it was only enough to achieve lower positions. In 1997/98 the team finished last. It then disbanded and was withdrawn from the national leagues.

In the 2005/06 season Mülheim entered the association league . In 2006 the table tennis department dissolved and the players switched to the TTC Union 69 Mülheim club .
