Carsten Matthias

Carsten Matthias (born May 11, 1963 ) is a former German table tennis player and official. In 1987 he won the German championship in doubles.

Career

Carsten Matthias' parents are former table tennis players. His father Günter Matthias played in the GDR, his mother Uschi Matthias in West Germany. Carsten began his career in the club SC Fürstenfeldbruck, with whose men's team he played in the second division. In 1984 he joined the first division club Spvg Steinhagen .

The 1993/94 season in Kassel entitled Matthias to participate in the Hessen Championship, where he immediately won the individual title.

Matthias achieved his greatest success at the National German Championships in Berlin in 1987. Here he was German champion in doubles with Bernd Sonntag ahead of Wilfried Lieck / Manfred Nieswand . Carsten Matthias has a doctorate in chemistry.

Since the end of 1996 Matthias has been a member of the executive committee of the Bavarian TT Association as managing director .
