Dieter Timme (born September 23, 1956 in Werder ) is a former German soccer player and coach.

Player career

In his youth, and later as a professional, Timme played exclusively for Hertha BSC . And as a teenager he was allowed to train with the first team from time to time with the permission of President Wolfgang Holst . Until he was used there in a competitive game, Dieter Timme even had to wait until the first match day of the 1979/80 season when he was in the starting line-up in the 0-0 win against Eintracht Braunschweig . After the 1: 2 defeat at Bayer 04 Leverkusen on matchday 2, Timme was no longer fielded by Kuno Klötzer and his successor Hans Eder initially did not use him. In the second half of the season, Helmut Kronsbein was the coach of the old lady , but he could not avoid the surprising relegation.

Under Uwe Klimaschefski , Timme became a regular player in the 2nd Bundesliga . However, as third behind SV Werder Bremen and Eintracht Braunschweig, participation in the promotion relegation was just missed.

In the following season , Timme was a regular both under Klimaschefski , who was dismissed after the first half of the season , and under Georg Gawliczek , who led Hertha back to the upper house in second behind FC Schalke 04 .

Timme was now an integral part of the first team in the 1st Bundesliga . At the end of the season, however, Hertha rose again in last place.

After relegation, Hertha aimed for direct promotion, but had to realize after the first half of the season that this was not within the realm of possibility. That is why Gawliczek was separated and Martin Luppen was hired as the new head coach. Under Gawliczek, Timme had played the first 17 games of the season, under Luppen, however, the defender did not play a game until the penultimate matchday. Since the season goal was missed, Hertha tried a new start for the 1984/85 season and installed Uwe Kliemann as coach, who again only achieved a midfield position. Timme played 36 of 38 games this season.

At his first coaching position, according to Dieter Timme , the former central defender Kliemann was “not given enough time.” And so in the winter of 1985 Hans Eder took over the helm again for six weeks. Then from January 1986 the globetrotter Rudi Gutendorf became the new trainer. Even if Timme assumed he had "no idea about football or training work", he retained his status as a regular player, which was probably also due to his position as "mood maker" (quote from Pierre Dickert ) in the team. Gutendorf was released in April of the same year and Jürgen Sundermann was supposed to make the impossible possible and prevent relegation in the 1985/86 season . However, he did not succeed and Hertha BSC had to go into the third division for the first time in the club's history.

In the amateur league in Berlin , Hertha was the sovereign winner, but failed because of the unwritten sheets BVL 08 Remscheid and SV Meppen . Dieter Timme had meanwhile lost his regular place. In his last season , Timme was only used five times. All the more surprising that he played six games in the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga .

Then Dieter Timme ended his playing career as a climber.

Coaching career

Timme began his coaching career in 1989 at his home club as a youth coach, where he stayed until 1994 and coached the later Bundesliga players Christian Fiedler , Carsten Ramelow and Andreas Schmidt , among others .

After a year break, Timme began working as an assistant coach at Tennis Borussia Berlin , but wanted to "rather work as a responsible coach" and so after one season took up the offer from FSV Velten . With the FSV he missed relegation in 1997 and had to relegate to the league together with SC Charlottenburg . After relegation, Velten went bankrupt and Timme was unemployed for almost two years until he accepted the offer from Hallescher FC . Right off the bat, he led the HFC to win the association league and thus back to the top division . In Halle , Timme was presented with a new contract offer, but this was rejected.

It was not until January 2003 that Dieter Timme got a new job as a trainer for SV Lichtenberg 47 . There he immediately secured relegation in the league . Due to the continuing downward trend in the 2004/05 season , Timme was released after the first half of the season .

From summer 2005 he completed a six-month training course as a soccer teacher at the German Sport University in Cologne . At the same time, he began working as a player observer for the Rogon / Sportmanagement W. Farian agency.

Timme had to give up this post when he became the new coach at Torgelower SV Greif in January 2009 . In Torgelow there were disagreements from the start and so he left the club in April 2010.

On April 22, 2012 he took over the coaching position at the upper division BSC Süd 05 from Brandenburg an der Havel. Here he trained the league team until the winter break. His contract was terminated on December 31, 2012. On April 29, 2013, the third division club SV Babelsberg 03 Timme introduced as the new transition coach until the end of the season. He was supposed to support Almedin Civa , who lacked the necessary license.
