Manfred Nieswand

Manfred Nieswand (born July 31, 1955 ) is a German table tennis player . He became German champion twice.

In 1977 Nieswand won the DTTB TOP-12 junior ranking tournament. At the National German Championships he regularly played doubles with Wilfried Lieck . After a third place in 1981, this double won the German championship title in 1982. As a result, it reached the final every time from 1983 to 1987, but without winning the title again. 1983 Nieswand won the mixed competition with Birgit Lehr .

After 2000, Nieswand achieved even more successes in senior tournaments. He won bronze in singles at the Senior World Championships in 2002 and 2006. In 2007 he reached the final at the European Championship. He was German senior champion in 2000 and 2003 (class 40+), 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2014 (class 50+). In 2016 he became world champion in the age group over 60.
