Ma Wenge
Ma Wenge ( Chinese 馬 文革 / 马 文革 ; born March 27, 1968 in Tianjin ) is a former Chinese table tennis player who was one of the best in the world in the 1980s and 1990s. His special shot is the hard forehand topspin from all positions. He is also known for his excellent footwork. His first name Wenge corresponds to the short form for Wenhua Da Geming, which is common in Chinese, and means cultural revolution.
former clubs
After Ma came to Europe from China , he joined TTC Jülich in 1993 , which at that time competed with almost the entire Chinese national team. After 2 years he moved to Belgium to the prestigious Royal Charleroi club . In 1996 he moved to Germany for TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen . He played there successfully and became the best player of the 1st pair cross in the 1st Bundesliga ; a year later he returned to Royal Charleroi, from 1997 he was back at TTF Ochsenhausen. In 2000 he moved to the TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau in the Westerwald.
He was also able to convince there and played consistently top performances. Before the 2004/05 season, Ma Wenge, 36 years old, moved to the TTC Frickenhausen in Neuffener Täle . There he would become the absolute darling of the public and in the following years play the best record in the league several times and lead the TTC to the championship titles in 2006 and 2007. In 2008 he left the club for Italy to join the Circoli Milano club. In 2009 he returned to Germany to the TTC Rhön-Sprudel Fulda-Maberzell .

- In 1989 Ma Wenge was able to win his first of two World Cup titles (second in 1991).
- In 1989 he won silver with China in the team at the World Cup in Dortmund and bronze in the men's singles.
- In 1991 he was third in the World Cup and failed to Jan-Ove Waldner.
- In 1992 he became Olympic third party and failed in the semifinals to Jean-Philippe Gatien .
- In 1993 he was with China World Cup 2. at the World Championships in Gothenburg and won silver in men's doubles.
- In 1995 he won World Cup gold with the team at the World Cup in his hometown of Tianjin .
- In 1997 he became world champion for the second time with the Chinese national team at the World Cup in Manchester .
- He was also 8 times Chinese champion.

National team career
Ma Wenge was a member of the Chinese national team from 1988 to 1997 . During this time he was very successful and to this day is one of the players who have participated in a world championship the most for a country .
Game system
Ma Wenge has a very dynamic topspin game from half distance - equally with forehand and backhand topspins - as well as a good backhand block . He was one of the first world-class Chinese to be very successful with the shake hand position . He prefers the topspin with short arm movements and strong wrist use. Ma Wenge is one of the best players against cut defense.
