The WBG-Museum is a collection operated by the municipal housing association Augsburg , which mainly deals with the development of housing construction and furnishings.

exhibition

The collection of the WBG Museum is mainly dedicated to contemporary interiors of the 20th and 21st centuries. Many of the exhibits come from liquidated or seized households that were housed in buildings of the WBG Augsburg. The exhibition shows, among other things, furniture, props, decorative elements and other smaller furnishings that have accumulated since the 1920s and thus aims to provide evidence of the change in living.

Special exhibits also offer many accessories from representative events of the WBG GmbH: Among other things, a trowel can be seen in the museum , which commemorates the laying of the foundation stone for the new Augsburg city library . In addition, the WBG Museum also deals with the history and development of municipal housing construction and thus also with the history of the housing association itself.

Sponsorship and operation

The WBG-Museum has no regular opening times, but is only opened on certain occasions by prior arrangement. This keeps the costs for maintenance and operation within limits. These are supported by a merger of WBG, AGS (AGS-Augsburger Gesellschaft für Stadtentwicklung und Immobilienbetreuung GmbH) and the WBG's own "Foundation for Architecture and Civil Engineering".

location

The WBG Museum is located in the building of the housing company of the City of Augsburg GmbH in the Rosenauviertel on the western edge of the city center . Due to its central location on Rosenaustraße - a major arterial road in Augsburg - it is easy to reach in the local public transport of Stadtwerke Augsburg by several tram and city bus routes .

Trivia

On the occasion of the “Augsburg OPEN Days 2007”, an action by the city of Augsburg, during which a total of 100 (demonstration) tours were offered, the WBG Museum also opened its doors under the title “A museum that is not in any reference work” .
