Kanak Jha (born June 19, 2000 in Milpitas , California ) is an American table tennis player .
life and career
In 2014 he performed internationally for the first time. It was then that he won the North America Cup for the first time. In addition, after strong performances at the World Cadet Challenge, he qualified for the World Cup in Düsseldorf . At the age of 14 he was the youngest player ever to take part in this tournament. In the preliminary round he was able to beat Adrian Crişan , but failed in the further course of the tournament.
In 2015 he only took part in the World & Pan American Cup, where he won gold with the team. He was also able to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There he was able to reach the second round with the team, but had to admit defeat in the individual in the first round.
In 2017 he won the national championship. At the World Championships in Düsseldorf he was among the last 32 in singles, where he lost to Xu Xin . In 2018 he took part in the World Team Cup , where he reached the quarter-finals with the team.
In the 2017/18 season he played with the TTC Ruhrstadt Herne club in the 3rd Bundesliga North, after which he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for 1. FSV Mainz 05 . In the 2019/20 season, he joined the Bundesliga team TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau , and in 2020 he was signed by TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen .
