Others

For a rally in the quarterfinals between Zhang Jike and Quadri Aruna, the latter received the Table Tennis Star Point Award in January 2015. Quadri Aruna was also the first African player since 1992 to make it into the main round and into the top eight of a World Cup.

Zhang Jike, the men's winner, did not receive any prize money because he had crushed two advertising boards after winning the final.

Liu Jia was honored as a Fair Play Star in January 2015 after correcting a favorable but wrong referee decision in favor of her opponent Li Xiaoxia in the quarterfinals.

The women's World Cup took place outside of Asia for the first time, as it was held in Linz .
