Career
Adrien Mattenet started playing table tennis when he was 7 years old. He began his career at the Beauchamp CTT club , from 2009 to 2013 he played at AS Pontoise-Cergy TT , after which he was signed by SV Plüderhausen . In 2014 he moved to 1. FC Saarbrücken and in 2016 to the French second division club PPC Villeneuve . He first drew international attention in 2005 when he won the European Youth Championship with the French team in Ostrava. From 2007 to today (2016) he took part in eight out of ten world championships (except in 2012 and 2016), but never came close to medal ranks. In ITTF Pro Tour tournaments in 2008 and 2009 he made it into the Grand Finals, where he reached the semi-finals in doubles with his compatriot Emmanuel Lebesson . At the European Championships in 2010 and 2011 , he made it to the quarter-finals in singles, just like at the World Cup tournament in 2011 . In 2012, he finished fifth in the European ranking tournament TOP12 .
In the world rankings, he moved up to 50th place in October 2010, making him the best-placed French player for the first time and remained that way until December 2014 (when he was overtaken by Simon Gauzy ). At the end of 2011 he came in 19th place, which was both a personal best and the best placement for a French player in more than ten years.
In 2012 Adrien Mattenet qualified for the Olympic Games . Here he lost to the Austrian Chen Weixing in the opening singles .
At the 2015 European Games , he won the silver medal with the French team. He also won gold for the first time at the French table tennis championship , but was not used at the European championship due to differences with the French federation. Mattenet has not been nominated for international tournaments since then and is therefore no longer included in the international rankings.
