Dina Meshref ( Arabic دينا مشرف, DMG Dīnā Mašraf ; * March 10, 1994 ) is an Egyptian table tennis player . She took part in the Olympic Games in 2012 and 2016 .
Career
In 2008, at the age of 14, she was part of the Egyptian team (which reached 44th place) for the first time at a World Cup , but remained without a win. In May she was listed at 671 for the first time in the world rankings . In the following years she continuously improved and was able to win the Africa Cup in 2011 and qualify for the World Cup . In the same year she also took part in the individual competitions at the World Championships for the first time, in which she has been continuously represented since 2010. In 2012 she took part in the Olympic Games, where she lost after two wins against Elizabeta Samara and was eliminated with the team against the Netherlands. She won her first medal on the World Tour by taking silver in singles at the 2013 Nigeria Open .
Since September 2014 she has been the best placed African player and was the African representative at the World Cup in 2014 and 2015 . In November 2015, she became the first African player to make it into the top 100 after winning the gold medal in singles at the African Championships , African Cup and African Games and reaching the main round at the World Cup. At the time, she was one of only two top 100 players outside of Asia and Europe (alongside Lily Zhang from the USA). In 2016 she won the African Cup for the third time in a row, reached the main round at the World Cup and took part in the Olympic Games , at the African Championship she won silver in singles and gold in teams, doubles and mixed. From 2017 to 2020 another four gold medals followed at the African Cup - in 2020 she won the tournament for the seventh time in a row - at the World Cup she made it into the main round several times, but no further than the round of 16.
In 2019, Dina Meshref was signed by the Bundesliga club TSV Langstadt .
