Kaczorowo ( German  Waldhof ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the rural community Budry (Buddern) in the powiat Węgorzewski ( Angerburg district ).

Geographical location

Kaczorowo is located in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , seven kilometers northeast of the district town of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) .

history

The small town, once called Waldhof , was an estate and Vorwerk . Until 1945 the place was a place of residence in the municipality of Brosowken (1938 to 1945 Birkenhöhe (Ostpr.), Polish: Brzozówko ) in the administrative district of Popiollen ( Polish: Popioły ), which - between 1939 and 1945 was renamed the "District Albrechtswiesen" - to the district of Angerburg in the administrative district of Gumbinnen belonged to the Prussian province of East Prussia .

1945 came Waldhof in consequence of the war with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland and is called since then in Polish "Kaczorowo". Today it is assigned to the Schulzenamt ( Polish Sołectwo ) Wola (Freyhof) in the community of Budry in the powiat Węgorzewski , before 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Religions

Until 1945 Waldhof was parish in the Protestant Church of Buddern in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today Kaczorowo is part of the Protestant parish in Węgorzewo (Angerburg) , a subsidiary of the parish in Giżycko (Lötzen) in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Before 1945 Waldhof belonged to the Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd Angerburg in the Diocese of Warmia , today Kaczorowo is assigned to the parish of Budry in the Diocese of Ełk (Lyck) of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland .

Kaczorowo is a bit remote from a traffic point of view and can only be reached from the Polish voivodship road DW 650 and the former German Reichsstraße 136 via a side road that branches off at Droglewo (Karlshof) and via Wola (Freyhof) to Brzozówko (Brosowken , 1938 to 1945 Birkenhöhe (Ostpr. )) leads. There is no rail connection.
