Brzozówko ( German  Brosowken , 1938-1945 Birkenhöhe ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the rural community Budry (Buddern) in the powiat Węgorzewski ( Angerburg district ).

Geographical location

Brzozówko is located in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , nine kilometers northeast of the district town of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) .

history

The village of Birkenfeld was founded in 1554 and named Brosowicken after 1627 and Brosowken after 1774 . It was a very scattered village. Between 1874 and 1945 it belonged to the district of Popiollen ( Polish Popioły ), which - renamed 1939-1945 District Albrecht meadows - the district Angerburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia was assigned.

In Brosowken and its three districts Brosowkenberg (1938-1945 Birkenstein, Polish Brzozowska Góra ), Friedrichsfelde (Gnaty) and Waldhof (Kaczorowo) were registered in 1910 a total of 291 inhabitants. Their number was 280 in 1925, 279 in 1933 and dropped to 241 by 1939.

For political and ideological reasons to defend against foreign-sounding place names, Brosowken was renamed Birkenhöhe on June 3 (officially confirmed on July 16) 1938 .

In 1945 the village was in consequence of the war with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland and carries since then the Polish name form brzozówko . Today it is the seat of a Schulzenamt ( Polish Sołectwo ) for Brzozówko with Brzozowska Góra (Brosowkenberg , 1938–1945 Birkenstein) , and a village in the rural community Budry in the powiat Węgorzewski , until 1998 part of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Religions

Brosowken was parish in the Evangelical Church of Buddern in the church province of East Prussia of the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd Angerburg in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today Brzozówko belongs to the Catholic parish in Budry in the Diocese of Ełk (Lyck) of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland and to the Protestant parish of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) , a branch of the parish in Giżycko (Lötzen) in the Diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

Brzozówko loves on a side road that branches off the Polish voivodship road DW 650 and the former German Reich road 136 at Budry (Buddern) and leads via Krzywińskie (Krzywinsken , 1927–1945 Sonnheim) to Pozezdrze (Possessern , 1938–1945 Großgarten) . There is no train connection.
