The Gmina Budry is a rural municipality in the powiat Węgorzewski of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in Poland . Their seat is the village of the same name ( German Buddern ) with about 400 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality with an area of 175 km² is located in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Neighboring municipalities are the Russian rural municipality Novostrojewo ( Kaliningrad Oblast ) in the north, Banie Mazurskie in the east, Pozezdrze in the south and Węgorzewo in the west. The district town of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) is five kilometers away.
70 percent of the municipal area is used for agriculture and 20 percent for forestry. The area is rich in a large number of very small lakes. The 172-kilometer-long Węgorapa ( Angerapp , Russian Анграпа Angrapa ) belongs to the flowing waters .
history
The rural community was dissolved from 1954 to 1972 and divided into gromadas . The area belonged to the Olsztyn Voivodeship from 1946 to 1975 and to the Suwałki Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998 . The Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship was established in 1999. After that, the municipality belonged to the powiat Giżycki until 2001 .

Budry is at the crossroads of two thoroughfares: The Voivodship Road DW650 (former German Reichsstraße 136 ) leads from Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) in the west via Węgorzewo (Angerburg) to Gołdap (Goldap) in the east.
The nearest international airport is Gdansk . - There is no longer a rail connection.
