Petrissa Solja (born March 11, 1994 in Kandel ) is a German table tennis player . In doubles with Sabine Winter , she was German champion in 2013 and 2015 and European champion in 2013 , and in 2015 she also won the German championship in singles. At the European Championships in 2021 , Solja won the title in both singles and doubles with Shan Xiaona .
youth
Petrissa Solja started playing table tennis at TTC Büchelberg . She came to TTSV Fraulautern in 2007 through the BTTF Zweibrücken . Petrissa Solja already achieved national and international successes in her youth. From 2006 to 2009 she won the German School Championship in singles and - with the exception of 2006 - also in doubles. From 2008 to 2012 she was German youth champion in singles, and in 2012 in doubles with Theresa Kraft.
In 2008 she became European student champion in singles and with Nadine Sillus in doubles. She defended the individual title in 2009; In 2011 and 2012 she came second. In 2011 she won the doubles title with Romanian Bernadette Szőcs . At the World Youth Championships she came fifth in 2011 and third in 2012.
Adults
In 2009 Petrissa Solja was nominated for the European Championship . Here she came to her first international match on September 13th. In the game against the Netherlands, she was defeated by Elena Timina . In 2010 she was among the top 100 in the world rankings for the first time .
Solja played with the women's team of the TTSV Fraulautern club in the Bundesliga until 2012 and then moved to Austria to ASKÖ Linz Froschberg , with whom she won the Champions League in 2013. In 2014 she returned to the German Bundesliga and joined ttc berlin eastside .
In 2012 she was voted the best young German player and player of the year. In 2013 she won the German championship and the German Open in doubles with Sabine Winter . With her she also became European champion in the same year . In the final, Solja and Winter defeated the players Zhenqi Barthel / Shan Xiaona , another German duo, 4-2. She contributed to the German team's title win by winning a game in the semi-finals against the Czech Republic. At the German title fights in 2014, she and Sabine Winter lost to the duo Shan Xiaona / Kristin Silbereisen in the double final , and in 2015 she won both singles and, again with Sabine Winter, doubles.
At the 2014 European Championship , she won the title with the German team and won all of her five games. In the same year she took part in the World Cup for the first time and reached the round of 16. In doubles with Shan Xiaona, she also qualified for the first time for the Grand Finals , in which the two lost the decisive set in the first round and Solja reached the semi-finals in the U-21 competition. In February 2015 she was defeated by Liu Jia from Austria at the European ranking tournament Europe TOP-16 in the final . At the European Games in 2015 she won team gold, together with Han Ying and Shan Xiaona , a success that the team repeated at the European Championships in the same year. In her second World Cup participation, she was able to defeat the world number six, Feng Tianwei, and Ai Fukuhara , number 4, and finally won the bronze medal. Solja and Shan won the German and Austrian Open in doubles, but lost again in the first round at the Grand Finals at the end of the year .
In 2016, Solja reached the quarter-finals with the team at the World Cup and earned a 5-2 balance, with victories against Ai Fukuhara (number 4 in the world rankings), Kasumi Ishikawa (No. 5) and Yang Ha-eun (No. . 11). In March she reached a new record in the world rankings with 13th place. At the 2016 Olympics , she was eliminated in singles after her first game in the round of 32. With the team she won the silver medal after a 3-2 win against Japan in the semifinals and a 0-3 defeat in the final against the Chinese team. In the same year she became vice-European champion in doubles together with Shan Xiaona . In the individual, she was eliminated in the quarterfinals against the Portuguese Fu Yu . In the double competition of the Grand Finals , the first game was lost again. With her second place in the Europe Top 16 2017 , in which she had to give up injured against Li Jie in the final, as in the 2015 European Championship quarter-finals , Solja secured a starting place at the World Cup again . At the 2017 World Championships in Düsseldorf , she reached the semifinals with her Chinese partner Fang Bo , with which she won the bronze medal. There they were defeated by the later world champions Maharu Yoshimura / Kasumi Ishikawa from Japan. In the singles she was eliminated early against the Hungarian Szandra Pergel , in the doubles she reached the round of 16 with Sabine Winter . At the Czech Open in August, she was injured again, so that she could not take part in the European team and the World Cup. From autumn onwards she took a break of several months because she felt “physically and mentally exhausted”.
At the beginning of 2018 she competed in international tournaments again, but did not play for her club ttc berlin eastside again. In mixed doubles with Patrick Franziska , she reached the EM semi-finals in 2018 . For the 2018/19 season, she moved to Bundesliga promoted TSV Langstadt . At the Europe Top 16 Cup 2019 she defeated European champion Li Qian and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd seeded players Elizabeta Samara , Sofia Polcanova and Bernadette Szőcs and thus won the gold medal. Together with Patrick Franziska, she won bronze at the world championships a few months later . In the quarterfinals of the European Games, she lost to Fu Yu, but won gold with Patrick Franziska and with the team. At the European Team Championship , which took place in the same year , Germany was surprisingly eliminated in the quarter-finals against Portugal.
In November 2019, she climbed to 15th place in the ITTF world rankings , making her the best-placed European for the first time. In 2020 she won the Europe Top 16 for the second time .
Family and private
Petrissa Solja's mother Dagmar Solja-Andruszko (* 1955) played in the Bundesliga with ATSV Saarbrücken in the 1980s , father Pavel Solja has won the Palatinate Championship several times and sister Amelie (* 1990) is also a national player, playing for Austria since 2010. The other sister Susanne (* 1986) also achieved success in the school area and played in the 2nd Bundesliga from 2004 onwards.
Before the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro , Solja had herself photographed for the German edition of Playboy with swimmer Isabelle Härle , rower Julia Lier , cyclist Nadja Pries and pole vaulter Katharina Bauer, who is not starting in Rio for reasons of injury .
