The 33rd European Table Tennis Championship took place from September 24th to 28th, 2014 in Lisbon . The ETTU Executive Committee confirmed the Portuguese capital as the venue on December 25, 2013. In the title fights, only the team competitions were held. Since 2012, only the single and double competitions should actually be held in even years, but no organizer was found for 2014. The venue for the event was the MEO Arena in Parque das Nações .
The men’s winner was Portugal ( Marcos Freitas , João Monteiro , Tiago Apolónia , Diogo Chen , João Geraldo ) ahead of Germany ( Timo Boll , Dimitrij Ovtcharov , Steffen Mengel , Patrick Franziska ).
The German women were able to defend their title. The team around Shan Xiaona , Han Ying and Petrissa Solja won the final against Austria ( Sofia Polcanova , Liu Jia , Li Qiangbing ) 3-0.
Men's competitions
43 teams, divided into three divisions, took part in the men's competitions. Only the first division, the Championship Division, played the European champions. The defending champion was the team from Germany .
