The 31st European Table Tennis Championships took place from October 17th to 21st, 2012 in Herning (Denmark). The venue was the Jyske Bank boxing arena.
Only Timo Boll was able to defend his title. He became European individual champion for the third time in a row and for the sixth time. The women's singles were won by Belarusian Wiktoryja Paulowitsch . The Austrians Robert Gardos / Daniel Habesohn and the Romanians Daniela Dodean / Elizabeta Samara won the doubles .
There were two bronze medals for Germany, namely the ladies' duo Kristin Silbereisen / Wu Jiaduo and the men's duo Dimitrij Ovtcharov / Vladimir Samsonov .
For the first time, no team competitions were held because, according to a resolution of the ETTU Congress 2010, from 2012 onwards, only individual competitions will take place in even years.

ETTU Congress
The previous President Stefano Bosi (Italy) was re-elected at the ETTU Congress, which took place parallel to the Games . In contrast, the German Eberhard Schöler resigned as vice president. He was defeated in a vote by the French Jean-François Kahn.
