Barbora Balážová (born March 18, 1992 in Topoľčany ) is a Slovak table tennis player . She took part in several European and World Championships as well as in the 2016 Olympic Games .

Career

Barbora Balážová achieved first international successes at the European Youth Championships. In Prague 2004 she was third in the mixed school with Pierre Bezard (France). Two years later she won the double competition in Sarajevo with Marharyta Pessozka . In Bratislava 2007 she reached the final in singles, with Sabine Winter she was again champion in doubles. In 2010 she competed in the youth class in Istanbul. Here she won again in doubles with Sabine Winter, also in mixed with Pavel Sirucek.

For adults, she won several titles at the national Slovak championships, around 2013 in singles, doubles and mixed. and in 2018 in singles and mixed.

At the 2013 World Cup , she made it to the round of 16 in mixed doubles. In the same year Balážová won silver in mixed doubles at the European Championships .

In 2016 she qualified for participation in the individual competition of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro due to her world ranking position . Here she won against the Mexican Yadira Silva , but then retired against the Swede Li Fen . At the European Games in 2019 , she came 4th in mixed doubles with Ľubomír Pištej; in the individual she reached the 3rd round.

From 2010 to 2017 Barbora Balážová played in the German Bundesliga , first with Hannover 96 in the 2nd Bundesliga, then for several years with TUSEM Essen in the 1st BL.
