Yadira Silva (born December 24, 1985 in Unión de Reyes , Cuba ) is a Mexican table tennis player from Cuba . Until 2019 she took part in 11 world championships and in the individual competition of the Olympic Games in 2008 , 2012 and 2016 .

Career

Yadira Silva was born in Cuba, grew up here and started playing table tennis at the age of 10. She achieved some success under the flag of Cuba. In 2006 she married the Mexican Roberto Madrigal Hernández, moved to Mexico, where she obtained Mexican citizenship. Since then she has competed in international competitions for Mexico.

From 2008 to 2019 she took part in all world championships - with the exception of 2009 - but never came close to medal ranks. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, she was eliminated in the first round against Croatian Andrea Bakula . Things did not go any better at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where she lost to Ariel Hsing (USA). In 2016 in Rio de Janeiro she won a victory over the Syrian Heba Allejji , after which she was defeated by the Slovak Barbora Balážová .

Yadira Silva is married and has two daughters.
