Galia Dvorak ( Ukrainian Halyna Wolodymyriwna Dworschaka Chassanowa Галина Володимирівна Дворжака Хасанова ., Scientific transliteration Halyna Volodymyrivna Dvoržaka Chasanova * 1. April 1988 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Spanish table tennis player of Ukrainian origin . She took part in the Olympic Games three times .

Career

In 2000 she appeared internationally for the first time, at that time she reached the round of 16 in doubles with Marc Duran at the European Schools Championship. Further appearances followed in 2002, as it was rarely used by the Spanish Association in 2001. So she was able to achieve ninth place in the youth TOP 12 tournament and thus become the best-placed Spaniard. At the European Schools Championship Dvorak won three medals, namely silver in singles and gold in doubles and with the team.

In 2003 she was able to reach the second round in doubles at the World Youth Championship, where she participated for the first time. Otherwise, the Spaniard took part in the European Schools Championship to win gold with Elizabeta Samara . Because of her good performance, she was allowed to take part in the World Championships in Paris and was able to reach the third round in mixed with He Zhiwen .

In 2004 Dvorak won gold in doubles as well as with the team at the European Youth Championships. At the Youth World Cup she reached the quarter-finals with Dimitrij Ovtcharov . Otherwise, further appearances followed only in 2005. She was able to achieve third place this year at the European Youth Championships before she temporarily failed early at the World Cup.

In 2006 she took part in the World Cup with the team, but the Spanish team failed in the group stage. Due to good performance at the Youth World Cup, she qualified early for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , where Dvorak was among the best 16 in the individual and finished ninth with the team. At the European Championships she reached the round of 32 in the individual. In 2009, no great successes followed, but in 2010 she was able to reach the round of 16 at the World Cup with the Spanish team.

In 2011 she was unable to perform internationally due to an injury, but was still able to gain a starting place for the 2012 Olympic Games in London , as in 2008 she failed both individually and with the team.

In 2013 Dvorak won bronze with Matilda Ekholm at the European Championships, at the World Cup she had to admit defeat to Li Xiaoxia in the second round.

In 2014 she was in the selection of the Spanish team at the European Championship, which could reach the second round.

She was able to participate in the 2015 European Games after injuries, but had to admit defeat in the round of 16.

After the 2016 Olympics , she performed less internationally.
