The table tennis Europe Top 16 Cup in 2017 was from 3 to 5 February at the French Antibes instead. The defending champions were Dimitrij Ovtcharov for the men and Shen Yanfei for the women , who has since retired from professional sport. Gold went to Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Li Jie .

qualification

The reigning individual European champions Emmanuel Lebesson and Melek Hu qualified as well as the top 14 European players in the world rankings from December 2016 (without taking into account the European champions). If there was no player from the host France among these 15 players, the host was allowed to name another participant, otherwise the last place was also awarded via the world rankings. An association was allowed to be represented by a maximum of four players.

mode

The 16 participants were divided into 4 groups, in which everyone played against everyone. The group first and second qualified for the quarter-finals. Places 1–8 were played out, the top three automatically qualified for the World Cup . In the group phase, each individual was played in the best-of-five mode and thus consisted of three to five sets; from the quarter-finals onwards, the best-of-seven mode was used.
