Dieter Weitz

Dieter Weitz (born July 4, 1942 ) is a German table tennis player . He is German runner-up and a five-time national player.

Weitz is a defender. Until 1966 he played victories with the Sportfreunde in the second division, after which he moved to the Oberliga at Borussia Düsseldorf , with whom he reached the final in the German Cup in 1968. At the German championships in 1966 he finished second behind Eberhard Schöler , and in doubles he finished third with Peter Huebner . A year later he came third in the DTTB ranking tournament TOP-12 .

Weitz was called up in five international matches. He played for the first time in March 1964 in Hilversum against the Netherlands and won both singles. In 1966 he took part in the European Championships in London.

In 1976 he joined the TTC Herbornseelbach - coming from TuS Siegen 02 - with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga a year later . Since 1979 he has been playing at DJK TuS Siegen 02, where he is still active today (2014).

Since the 1980s he has also been active as a tennis player at the TC Siegen. In 2002 he took 27th place in the German senior tennis ranking.

Private

Weitz worked as a car salesman.
