TTG Weitmar-Munscheid

The TTG Weitmar-Munscheid - later TTG Müller-Munscheid - is a table tennis club from the Bochum district of Weitmar . The men's team played in the Bundesliga in 2002/03 .

The club was founded around 1958. It took off when the entrepreneur Frank Müller became involved as a sponsor and player around 1992. After several promotions, the men reached the 2nd Bundesliga in 2000. Here they came third. In the following year, Carl Prean , Duan Yongjun, Chan Kong Wah , Terry Young, Marc Closset, Tyan Jenkins, Li Yuxiang , Patrick Leis and Frank Müller made the leap into the 1st Bundesliga . At the German Cup Championships, Weitmar-Munscheid played in the semifinals in 2001 and 2002.

In 2002 the association was renamed TTG Müller-Munscheid . For the Bundesliga season 2002/03 the Chinese Gao Wei, Chen Hongyu and Fan Changmao as well as Evgueni Shetinin (Belarus) and Mikael Zöögling (Sweden) were signed as reinforcements . Nevertheless, the team only came second to last.

Manager and main sponsor Frank Müller has now completely relocated his engagement to Würzburg, the previous training location of TTG Müller Munscheid. He was followed by player-trainer fan Changmao, assistant trainer & scout Matthias Landfried and players Mikael Zöögling and Evgueni Shetinin to the new club in the 1st Bundesliga, Müller Würzburger Hofbräu .

Then the team was withdrawn to the regional league because the sponsor Müller reduced his financial commitment.

The club later changed its name to TTG Munscheid . When the sponsor left completely in 2005, the team went back to the district league.
