Fan Changmao

Fan Changmao (born April 8, 1963 ) is a Chinese table tennis player who won three medals at world championships in the 1980s.

Career

Fan Changmao is a penholder player. He took part in the world championships in 1983 and 1985 . In 1983 he reached the quarter-finals in singles, doubles and mixed, and became world champion with the Chinese team. In 1985 he won bronze in doubles with He Zhiwen and in mixed with Jiao Zhimin .

In the ITTF world rankings , Fan Changmao was ranked eighth in early 1985.

In 1991 he moved to the 2nd German Bundesliga for TTC Grünweiß Bad Hamm . Two years later he joined the TTF Bad Honnef , with which he made promotion to the 1st Bundesliga in 1994 and which he left in 1996 for TTK Würzburg . After a detour to TTG Munscheid in the 2002/03 season, he returned to Würzburg for the Müller Würzburger Hofbräu and became German champions with the men's team. Until 2009 he stayed at the now renamed TTC Kist-Würzburg as a player-coach, most recently in the regional league. He then gave up his previously acquired German citizenship and moved to China to work as a trainer there.
