Raduschny ( Russian Радужный ) is a city in the Vladimir Oblast ( Russia ) with 18,211 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located about 12 km south of the Oblast capital Vladimir on several rivers ( Pol , Buscha and Uschbol ) not far from their confluence with the Kljasma in the river system of the Volga .
Raduschny is administratively directly subordinate to the Oblast and is one of the "closed cities" of Russia. The city is therefore surrounded by a wall and fence. As a non-resident, you can only gain access with a special ID. The entrance is provided with a barrier and the military guards check all people entering.
history
The place was founded in 1971 on a military site as a housing estate for employees of the secret design office "Raduga" for laser weapons . The founding date is February 25, 1971.
In 1977 the residential area was given the status of an urban-type settlement under the code name Vladimir-30 and in 1991 under its current name it received city rights (adjective form of the name of the Raduga design office , Russian for rainbow ).
Since 1993 the design office has been officially called the State Scientific and Technical Laser Test Center of the Russian Federation "Raduga" .

Economy and Infrastructure
The factories that grew up around the military construction office, which today also manufacture civilian products, are a major factor in shaping the city. There are also companies in the construction industry. The city has a hospital, several schools and a swimming pool.
