Karabanowo ( Russian Карабаново ) is a city in the Vladimir Oblast ( Russia ) with 14,868 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located in the eastern part of the Klin-Dmitrower Heights about 130 km northwest of the Oblast capital Vladimir on the Seraya , a source river of the Scherna in the river system of the Volga .
Karabanovo belongs to the Alexandrov Raion . Alexandrov is about ten kilometers north.
history
Karabanowo was established in 1846 as a workers' settlement in connection with the establishment of a textile dye works in place of a village of the same name first mentioned in 1630, named after the local landowners Karabanow.
On September 26, 1938 the town charter was granted.

Economy and Infrastructure
The most important company in the city was a cotton fabric factory until a few years ago, but it was closed. The population is mainly employed in small, mainly trading companies and in nearby Alexandrov.
The city lies on the railway line Alexandrow / Strunino - Orechowo-Sujewo , the north-eastern part of the Great Moscow Ring opened continuously in 1893 .
