Kurlowo ( Russian Курлово ) is a small town in the Vladimir Oblast ( Russia ) with 6764 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

The city is located about 80 km south of the Oblast capital Vladimir on a small right tributary of the Gus in the catchment area of ​​the Volga .

Kurlovo belongs to Rajon Gus-Khrustalny .

history

The place was created in connection with the construction of the Kurlovskaya fabrika glass factory in 1811.

In 1927 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement under the name Kurlowski and from 1929 to 1963 it was the administrative center of an independent Rajons.

In 1998 city rights were granted.

Economy and Infrastructure

The most important company is the Simwol glassworks (window, vehicle, armored and appliance glass as well as bottles). In addition, companies in the timber industry and the wood processing industry.

The city lies on the Vladimir – Tuma ( Tumskaya ) railway line . The R73 Vladimir – Gus-Khrustalny – Tuma road, which connects to the Ryazan Oblast road network , also runs through Kurlowo .
