Thomas Schröder (table tennis player)
Thomas Schröder (born December 28, 1977 ) is a former German table tennis player . He was multiple European youth champion and took part in the 1996 European championship for adults.
youth
Thomas Schröder is a defender. He began his career at the top division TV Hude. From 1990 he enjoyed five years of training at the table tennis center in Heidelberg, among others under the trainer Charles Roesch . Schröder achieved his greatest successes at the European Youth Championships. In the cadet class he reached the doubles final in Granada in 1991 at the side of Thomas Theissmann, with the team he became European champion. The following year he won the title in Topoľčany in singles and doubles with Zoltan Fejer-Konnerth . In the junior class he was second in 1994 (behind the Austrian Kostadin Lengerov ) and in 1995 team European champion.
On the national level, Thomas Schröder won the national ranking tournament DTTB-TOP 12 three times: 1991 among the students, 1995 among the youth and 1996 among the juniors. In 1991 he was German student champion in doubles with A. Lunski. He won silver in singles in 1991 among the students and in 1992 and 1995 among the youngsters, and in 1995 in doubles with Zoltan Fejer-Konnerth.
Adults
In 1994 Schröder switched to the table tennis Bundesliga , where he played in the top and second-highest class for several clubs until 2001. In 2001 he helped TTC Helga Hannover to get promoted to the 1st Bundesliga.
In 1996 he was nominated for the European Championship . Here he was used in the team fights against Slovenia, France and Russia, but remained without a win. He was also eliminated immediately in single and double competitions. Only in mixed with Jie Schöpp two wins.
