Thomas Keinath (born August 31, 1977 in Hanau ) is a German - Slovak table tennis player . He was third in doubles at the 2000 European Championships .

Career

Thomas Keinath began his career as an eight-year-old at the Kesselstadt club, and in 1990 moved to the upper league for FTG Frankfurt, which he left in 1993 for TV Müller Gönnern . During this period he achieved his first international successes. In 1991 and 1995 he was European youth champion with the German team. In the following years he joined several clubs in the First and Second Bundesliga . At the 2000 European Championships , he won the bronze medal in doubles alongside Lars Hielscher . After a stopover in France, he came back to the table tennis Bundesliga for the TG Hanau . After a decent preliminary round, but weak second round, Keinath moved to competitor SV Plüderhausen , where he played together with Aleksandar Karakašević , Leung Chu Yan and Philipp Floritz . In 2013 he was committed to the 2nd Bundesliga TTC Ober-Erlenbach by the promoted team, before he was hired again in 2015 at TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell .

Thomas Keinath is largely deaf. In 2016 in Samsun (Turkey) he became world champion in singles, doubles with Marek Tutura and mixed with Eva Jurkova at the Deaf World Cup.

German national team

In 1997, Keinath was nominated for the World Cup , where he reached fourth place with the German team. His greatest success was bronze in doubles with Lars Hielscher at the 2000 European Championships .

In 2001 he was excluded from participating in the World Cup for disciplinary reasons. In 2002 he was called up again for the national team; he defeated the Belarusian Dzimitry Chumakov in the European league game. After that there was no future for him in the German national team.

Slovakia

In 2007 he received Slovak citizenship. Since then he has performed internationally under the flag of Slovakia. For example, he took part in the 2007 , 2008 and 2009 world championships for Slovakia .
