Career

Philipp Floritz, son of a ski instructor and a table tennis trainer, began playing table tennis when he was nine years old. He also played football on the side, but gave it up at the age of 13 in favor of table tennis. His first clubs were TTC Birkland and TSV Schongau, before he joined the SBDJK Rosenheim. In 2007/08 he played with the men's team in the league , in 2008 he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for TV 1879 Hilpoltstein, and won bronze with the boys' team at European level. In 2009 he became German youth champion in doubles, and he also achieved his first international success when he finished second in singles at the European Youth Championships in Prague (behind Frenchman Quentin Robinot ). He won silver in the team competition at the 2009 Youth World Cup in Colombia.

In the same year he was nominated for the individual competitions of the European Championship for Adults . Here he won the singles against Garegin Mkrtchyan (Armenia) and then lost to Tomas Pavelka from the Czech Republic. He played doubles with the Latvian Matīss Burģis . After a first round win against Gordan Grozdanov / Vladimir Petkov (Bulgaria) it lost to the French Christophe Legoût / Abdel-Kader Salifou .

In 2010 he moved to the 1st Bundesliga for SV Plüderhausen . On November 23, 2010 he was nominated for an international match for the first time. Against Belarus he scored the decisive point for the team win in doubles with Zoltan Fejer-Konnerth . He played his second international game on January 4, 2011 against Sweden. Again he won the decisive double, this time alongside Patrick Franziska . With Patrick Franziska he also reached the double final at the national German championships in 2011. For the 2012/13 season he joined the TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell . Since the 2013/14 season he played in the upper league for TSV 1860 Ansbach, then for TuS Celle 92 and since 2018 for third division Hertha BSC .

Floritz made six international matches for Germany. Due to a lack of prospects, he started internationally for Bulgaria in 2015.
